President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to Kenya’s development, vowing not to let “enemies of progress” derail the nation’s trajectory. Speaking during his three-day tour of the North Rift region, the President highlighted significant strides made by his administration and urged citizens to support ongoing initiatives aimed at building a stronger Kenya.
Addressing residents of Uasin Gishu County on Friday, President Ruto declared that the country’s progress will not be held back by those seeking to undermine it.
“The progress Kenya is making will not be sabotaged by saboteurs who are against the progress of our nation,” he stated firmly.
Since assuming office in September 2022, Ruto’s administration has focused on stabilizing the economy and implementing reforms to improve the lives of ordinary Kenyans. Speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet on Thursday, the President announced that the economy is now stable after two years of intense efforts.
“We have spent the past two years fixing the economy. I am glad our economy is now stable. We will keep working together to address our challenges and build a better Kenya. This is not the time for retrogressive politics,” he said.
President Ruto also emphasized the importance of delivering on development promises, citing rural electrification as a key priority. He outlined plans to connect one million households to electricity over the next three years, with Sh1.8 billion allocated to connect 20,000 households in Uasin Gishu County alone.
“This is a programme for the entire country, not just Uasin Gishu. We must fulfill this commitment because it is what we promised Kenyans,” Ruto noted.
Despite facing criticism, particularly from the youth, the Head of State urged citizens to rise above divisive politics and embrace a collective vision for progress.
Kenya’s development agenda hinges on stability, focus, and unity. Allowing the President and his team to implement their plans without unnecessary obstruction is vital for the nation’s success. Sabotaging progress only hurts ordinary citizens who stand to benefit from improved infrastructure, access to electricity, and a robust economy.
As Kenyans, it is our responsibility to foster an environment where leadership can thrive and deliver. The strides made in stabilizing the economy and initiating transformative projects underscore the importance of supporting the presidency in its mission to build a better Kenya.
