Evojo Primary School in Vihiga County has been closed indefinitely following a shocking discovery that has shaken the local community. On the morning of Tuesday, May 6, 2025, a pupil discovered a dismembered human head inside one of the school latrines.
The school’s Deputy Headteacher, Oscar Changilwa, confirmed that the gruesome find occurred just after 7 AM, as students arrived for early morning classes.
“One of our pupils went to the toilet and came back saying he had seen a head,” Changilwa said. “When teachers checked, they found it, confirming the report.”
Immediate Response
Teachers quickly contacted the police, Ministry of Education, Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The school compound has since been treated as a crime scene, and the affected latrines were demolished to preserve evidence and ensure safety.
This tragedy comes just days after the school buried its headteacher, compounding the emotional trauma for students, teachers, and staff.
